How to collect payment in person

The pain: you're an independent professional. You don't carry a POS system around — you deliver your service at the customer's location. When the work is done, your options have always been bad ones: hand over a bill and wait until they remember to send payment, or take a check that takes days to cash. The job is finished; the money isn't.

No card reader, no invoicing app, no "I'll send it tonight." The moment of agreement and the moment of payment become the same moment — the same principle as booking the next appointment before the customer leaves (see "How to secure a follow-up appointment from a customer in person").

For bigger jobs with parts and labor, build a proper multi-item invoice instead and send it in the customer's DM — same outcome, itemized (see "How to generate invoices and collect payments from a customer"). Either way, the payment lands in the customer's history on their profile, building the spend picture you see in your customer list (see "How to manage customers using Blinko").
